Just like the watermelon variety with the same name, Miss Kleckley‘s blog is a fresh take on the male dominated urban fashion landscape, with a touch of sweetness reflecting the author’s personality. Her passion for sneakers and nails are infectious, and so is her writing. We recently met up with Miss Kleckley to find out more about what makes her tick.
How long have you been blogging for?
I started my venture into the blogging world two and a half years ago with “25 gramos“, a blog that was initially comprised of Cristian Ortiz, Dani Melo and Pau Pía. I was a regular reader and a fan of the site’s concept and content, and decided to get in touch with them. They offered me the opportunity to write for the blog as they welcomed a feminine perspective. A few months later I branched off and decided to start my own blog, Miss Kleckley.
What differentiates your blog?
Miss Kleckley started as a professional portfolio where I’d share urban trends, events and interesting new international brands. And the watermelon kept growing… connecting ladies sharing their common love for urban fashion, sneakers, and everything in between.
Why did you start a blog?
It’s a form of expression enabling you to share, give, while receiving great feedback, something that wouldn’t be possible if you weren’t first going to get yourself out there. It’s a great way to communicate and above all to connect with people with similar taste and opinions.
What is your favourite sneaker of all time?
The Nike Air Mariah are wow! and the Clima Wedge SLVR. (I can’t decide on just one!)
Describe your sneaker collection.
I have 31 pairs of sneakers, which isn’t too much compared with the leading National sneaker heads, but they were each selected with great care. If it’s not love at first sight, I won’t buy the sneaker. My collection is very girly, with feminine colourways like pink, purple and orange, and models ranging from the Air Max Light, Pegasus, Blazer Mid, Free Run, Adidas Relace Low, Reebok Princess… to the Vans Authentic Lo Pro.
What do your sneakers say about you?
Those who focus their styling from the top down rule out showing off their personality with their footwear. Sneakers have an amazing ability to communicate, similarly to Art Nail, which is why I always look down at people’s feet before I stop on their face or eyes. My collection speaks volumes about me, and could be divived into 2 categories: the more fun, colourful, and attention grabbing pairs, and the more elegant, sober and feminine footwear, which is a pretty accurate description of my character and the mood I’m feeling in when I choose to wear one type over the other.
Tell us something surprising about yourself.
When getting ready, I always start by putting my left sock on first, but when it comes to shoes I’ll put the right one on first. Not sure it it’s an obsessive compulsive habit, but it’s come to be a conscious part of my morning routine.
What kind of music do you listen to?
American Hip Hop, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Electronica…
Who are your favourite bloggers?
What are you favourite sivasdescalzo sneakers from SS12?
Without a doubt, the Reebok Classic Leather Vintage. The classics are back!
